Overview

Choosing and watching happen on different screens.

A visitor browses a menu of videos on a touch podium. The one they pick starts on the large wall at once, with no loading and no black frame.

While it plays, the wall shows only the film. When it ends, the podium goes back to the menu on its own, ready for the next person.

How it plays

Three steps, no instructions needed.

  1. 01BrowseThe podium shows a menu of videos, laid out to be read at a glance.
  2. 02PlayA tap starts the film on the wall, full screen and without any interface on it.
  3. 03ResetWhen the film ends, the podium returns to the menu without anyone stepping in.

How it's built

One PC drives both screens.

A single Unity app runs across two displays: the podium menu on one, the wall on the other. The videos live on the PC, and the next one is prepared in the background so a tap starts it immediately.

The wall never shows a button, a cursor or a loading state. It only ever shows a film.

  • Unity (C#)
  • Unity multi-display
  • Unity VideoPlayer
  • Full HD and 4K video

What was hard

Three things that made it hard.

  1. 01No waitingA tap had to start the film with no buffering, no black frames and no freeze on the podium.
  2. 02Two screens, one appEach screen needed its own camera, and the wall could never flicker or show a scrap of the menu.
  3. 03Days without a restartIn a mall or an airport it runs for hours or days, switching videos again and again, and has to stay smooth.

Setup

What a space needs.

  • A touch podium
  • A large display or video wall
  • One PC with two display outputs
  • The client's video files

Bring your own screens and we build for them, or we source and build the hardware as part of the project. Graphics, characters, language and branding are all redone for each client.
